I initially
became interested in the genealogy of the families of Arkansaw, West Virginia
as the result of helping a friend, Carl Yost, to develop a Relationship Study
Chart. The chart shows the degree of relationship between two people. I began by testing the utility of the chart on members of Zion Lutheran Church to
determine relationships amongst congregational members. This soon blossomed
into the research you see here.
First off, I began this study in November 2006, just a few weeks ago, and it is very far from a complete
record. There is much work to be done to complete an accurate record. If you
have any additional information about anyone listed here or their ancestors
or decendents, please, please contact me.
I am looking for information such as dates of birth, marriage, death, children, and any interesting facts about the life of the individual. Although there are some sources listed, the vast majority of the information thus far has been obtained from Zion's church record books, US federal census data from 1850-1930, grave markers in the Zion cemetery and other local cemeteries, and records on file at the Hardy County Courthouse in Moorefield, WV.

Women are listed with their surname (maiden name). Listed last are individuals for whom I have not yet discovered their surname.
